This Decision Belongs to You
If you are pregnant and considering placing your baby for adoption, this likely feels like a pivotal time in your life. This is not a decision to rush, and it is not one you should have to make without support.
CPO has been walking alongside expectant mothers since 1983. As a fully licensed adoption agency with the State of Oklahoma, we are not a referral service. We are the agency, and our team is here for you from your very first conversation through placement and beyond.
When you are ready to talk, so are we.
You Choose the Family
At CPO, you remain in control of your placement. We provide Life Books, which are family profiles created by our waiting families, so you can get a genuine sense of who they are before making any decisions. You can review as many books as you like based on your preferences, and you are welcome to meet families in person before making a choice.
We believe in providing families for babies, not babies for families. That means your choice of family is yours to make, and our team is here to help you feel informed and settled in that decision.
You Choose the Level of Contact
CPO has always encouraged openness in adoption, long before open adoption became widely practiced. You decide how much or how little contact you want with your child and the adoptive family going forward.
Whether you want regular visits and ongoing communication or a fully closed adoption, your plan is built around your needs and wishes.
Birthmother Advocates
Every expectant mother at CPO is connected with a trained birthmother advocate.
Your advocate is someone in your corner throughout the entire process. She will help you build your adoption plan, make sure you know your rights, connect you with your chosen family, and be available to you for as long as you need her.
You will also have your own attorney at no cost to you.
Support During Your Pregnancy
CPO provides professional counseling with an adoption-competent therapist throughout your pregnancy, available as often as you need. You are also welcome to attend our birthmother support group meetings, where you can connect with other women who understand what you are going through.
Depending on your situation and how far along you are, your chosen family may be invited to attend medical appointments with you or spend time getting to know you before your due date. The pace and level of contact before placement is something you guide.
Post-Placement Support
Placement is not the end of CPO’s commitment to you. Adoption is a lifelong journey, and our support reflects that. After placement, you have access to:
- Weekly support groups
- Ongoing professional counseling with an adoption-competent therapist
- Events honoring expectant mothers and celebrating adoptive families
- Community connections for adoptees and families
These services are available at no cost to all expectant mothers, regardless of when they placed or whether they placed through CPO.
Reach Out Today
You do not need to have a decision made to reach out. If you are simply curious about what adoption could look like, that is enough of a reason to call.
